This electric calorimeter can be used to measure the potential heat capabilities of various liquids. The cover contains a mounted heating coil of about 2 to 3 ohms resistance with standard banana sockets for electrical connection. When connected to a 6-volt battery, the coil will raise the temperature of 100ml of water by 10 degrees Centigrade in 10 minutes (depending on the resistance). The supporting posts and coil are coated to prevent Electrolysis. Also provided is an insulated stirrer supported by a rubber grommet.

It Consists of a 250ml aluminium inner vessel, Styrofoam insulation surrounding the inner metal cup, a 900ml aluminium outer vessel and transparent cover with two terminals.  The terminals are threaded at their lower ends to secure a 5W heating coil and the upper ends are fitted with standard banana sockets.
The cover contains two holes for a thermometer and stirrer; the stirrer is included. A blanking cap is provided to cover the chamber when the heating element is removed.
The Calorimeter is approximately 145mm tall (including banana sockets) with an O.D. of 105mm for the outer vessel, an inner diameter of 60mm for the inner vessel and a depth in the inner cup of 70mm.
The heating coil is easily replaceable.
