Electromagnetic U Core – 12V DC

Description

‘U’ Core & Armature. Student type, with 10mm diameter iron U core with two coils of copper wire. These may be connected to a 12V DC supply. Unit comes complete with armature, lifting hooks and 4mm spin free socket terminals. Dimensions 100 x 100mm.

A simple electromagnet. Two coils of 600 turns wound on steel centres that form a magnetic yoke. The coils are connected to 2x 4mm spin free IEC terminals. A steel plate with a hook fitted becomes the ‘armature’ (moving part) of the electromagnet. The force holding the armature to the cores increases with the increase of current through all the turns of both coils in series. Can be used on either AC or DC to demonstrate differences.
