E/M Apparatus (without Power Supply)

Description

This modern version of the E/M Apparatus allows students to experiment and clearly observe the effects of electric and magnetic fields on an electron stream. The ratio of charge over mass for an electron can be calculated using the diameter of the circular path, the current applied to the Helmholtz coils and the voltage used to accelerate the electrons. Built-in scale is a phosphor coated engraved glass ruler. This eliminates parallax when making precise diameter readings of the electron orbit.
