Australopithecus africanus Cranium Sts 5 “Mrs. Ples” with Reconstructed Jaw (Bone Clones®)

SKU:51SAFR

Australopithecus africanus cranium model with reconstructed lower jaw, representing the famous Sts 5 “Mrs. Ples” specimen.

This Bone Clones® fossil hominid model is based on the near-complete cranium discovered in 1947 at Sterkfontein, South Africa, and dated to approximately 2.5 million years ago. Featuring restored teeth and a reconstructed mandible, the model allows detailed study of cranial shape, dentition, and evolutionary traits. Sts 5 played a pivotal role in confirming South African australopithecines as true hominids, supporting comparative learning between early hominins, robust australopithecines, and later members of the genus Homo.
