Cathode Ray Tube Maltese Cross
Cathode Ray Tube Maltese Cross
SKU:42CRTM
The Cathode Ray Tube Maltese Cross is a classic physics demonstration tube used to show that cathode rays travel in straight lines and are deflected by a magnetic field. It is ideal for teaching fundamental concepts of electron behaviour in secondary school and tertiary physics laboratories.
When operated with a suitable high-voltage power source, the Maltese Cross casts a distinct shadow, demonstrating the straight-line motion of cathode rays. Bringing a magnet close to the illuminated image causes the rays to deflect, allowing students to observe the effect of magnetic fields on charged particles.
