Fibre optic demonstration rod designed to illustrate total internal reflection and the principles behind optical fibre communication systems.
This precision-machined acrylic rod provides a clear visual demonstration of how light can travel through a curved pathway using total internal reflection. When a laser beam is directed into the polished end of the rod, the light reflects repeatedly within the acrylic and follows the coiled path before emerging at the opposite end. This makes it an effective teaching aid for physics, optics and telecommunications studies.
Manufactured from high-quality Lucite acrylic, the rod is formed into two loops to clearly demonstrate that although light travels in straight lines, it can be guided around bends through internal reflection. Ideal for classroom demonstrations, STEM activities and physics investigations.
