Optical Fibre Set

Optical fibres are made of quartz or plastic with good transmission. Light incident on one end of the transparent fibre is reflected internally and transmitted to the other end. The high quality optical fibre in this set is made of transparent acrylic resin mixed with fine aluminium powder which allows the course of the laser beam that passes through it to be observed; this is called ‘smoked plastic’. Students can observe the path of the visible laser beam incident at one end of the fibre and repeatedly reflected until it reaches the other end.
